This kit contains everything you need to recreate the ancient Roman method of producing terracotta oil lamps using reusable plaster molds. While mass production is often associated with the Industrial Revolution, its roots stretch back nearly 2,000 years to the workshops of the Roman Empire, where craftsmen used molds to create thousands of nearly identical lamps.

Experience this early step toward industrial manufacturing by making your own Roman-style oil lamps with this ready-to-use kit.

The kit includes all of the materials needed, along with a custom four-piece mold featuring several historically inspired design options. Once the plaster cures, you'll have a durable, reusable mold capable of producing consistent terracotta oil lamps again and again using the included clay. Simply shape your lamps, allow them to dry, and finish them by pit-firing them in a campfire or fire pit. Detailed step-by-step instructions are included.
